Rhinoplasty is a surgery that allows you to correct not only the shape and size of the nose, but also to reduce or eliminate the dorsal hump, to change (thin, reduce, lift, etc.) the nasal tip, to change the shape of the nostrils, to correct the asymmetry of the nasal axis after suffered injuries.

Every year, more and more men and women determine to get rid of the annoying deficiency, which not only undermines self-confidence, but also hinders the full enjoyment of life. Women usually apply for a curved, extremely eye-catching asymmetric nose, large dorsal hump or a wide nasal tip in order to soften the facial features and make them more feminine. Meanwhile, men mostly face the problem related to the asymmetry of the nasal axis that almost always occur after suffered injury.

How the surgery is performed?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and lasts for 2-4 hours. The surgery can be performed by two methods, depending on the individual case:

Closed rhinoplasty. During the surgery, internal incisions are made in the nasal mucosa, so the scars remain unnoticed after the surgery.
Open rhinoplasty. During the surgery, the incision is made in the area of the columella and is extended to the nostrils on both sides. After the surgery, the scar of a few millimetres remains in the area of the columella that fades and smooths over time.

During the surgery, the cartilage nasal tip or cartilage-bone distortion and the asymmetry of the nasal axis are corrected. After the surgery, the nose is tamped with special cations that are removed on the first or second day after the surgery.

Postsurgical period and healing

  • Sutures are not removed from the nasal mucosa - they dissolve within two months;

  • After open rhinoplasty, sutures are removed from the columella after 7 days from the surgery;

  • Blood coloured discharge from nose may appear within 1-2 weeks after the surgery;

  • Difficult breathing may last for 3-4 weeks;

  • It is required to avoid dusty, smoking premises for about 2 weeks;

  • Bruises disappear within 2 weeks after the surgery;

  • When complete rhinoplasty is performed, a splint should be worn for 10-14 days after the surgery;

  • Intensive sports should be avoided for 2-3 months after the surgery;

  • It is advisable to avoid saunas, baths and swimming pools for 2-3 months after the surgery;

  • The nose heals up within 3-4 months. When healing, it is recommended to cleanse the nose with sea water and drip oil.
